#### CIWMB Committee to Hear E-Waste Program Update September 13, 2005 ####

The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) will be presented with an informational discussion item at the Sustainability and Market Development Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2005. The item will be heard in Committee only.

The purpose of the item is to provide an update to the Board on the status of the Electronic Waste Recycling Act implementation efforts, summarize accomplishments and challenges, recap the August 23, 2005 workshop, and discuss future directions. This will be a discussion item only. Stakeholders and interested parties who may wish to address the Board are welcomed to attend. Written comments may be entered into the record as well.

While the Committee meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., the item itself (Board Item 35, Committee Item Y) is scheduled to be heard at 1:30 p.m. More information about the item and CIWMB Board meetings can be found at:

#### DTSC Seeks E-Waste Samples! ####

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is beginning its next round of electronic device testing for hazardous waste determinations. As you know, electronic devices that are video displays devices [pursuant to Public Resources Code section 42463] and that exceed California's hazardous waste criteria may be listed in DTSC regulations [California Code of Regulations, Chapter 11, Appendix X]. When listed, these devices become covered electronic devices under the Electronic Waste Recycling Act and authorized collectors and recyclers may be reimbursed for them.

DTSC is looking for "samples" of portable DVD players. If your facility has any portable DVD players and/or mobile DVD players (i.e., used in automobiles) with screen sizes greater than 4 inches that you are willing to provide to DTSC as samples, please contact Ms. Valetti Lang at (916) 445-4413 [vlang@dtsc.ca.gov] or Mr. Charles Corcoran at (916) 327-4499 [ccorcora@dtsc.ca.gov].
