Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003:
Regulation Development

To implement the certain provisions of the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003 (Act), Chapter 526, Statutes of 2003; as amended by Chapter 863, Statutes of 2004, the Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) has promulgated regulations.

New Attention: Final regulations have been adopted by CIWMB and approved by OAL. Find out more in the CIWMB's Rulemaking web...

Final Rulemaking
Final regulations to implement and govern aspects of the Act, including the covered electronic waste (CEW) recovery and recycling payment system have been approved. Affected parties are also encouraged to familiarize themselves with related statutes and all associated existing regulations.

About the Emergency Regulations
Because of the short timeframes involved in initial implementation, the Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003, as amended, allowed the CIWMB to adopt emergency regulations. The emergency regulations are no longer in effect.

Note: The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is also developing regulations to implement sections of the Act. Please view DTSC's electronic waste website for more information.

Interested parties are encouraged to check back often, or subscribe to an e-mail newsletter to be kept apprised of developments and events.
