Coordinator Update: Spring 2002 |

by Diana Rivera As springtime approaches—especially for those of us in the environmental field—it means more opportunities to get out and enjoy conservation and Earth Day events. CalMAX staff plan to get on the road and attend a few of these events. Visit the Integrated Waste Management Board's Web site calendar learn more about what is happening near you. We will be bringing plenty of catalogues and flyers to share, and we hope to see you out there! If you take a close look at this spring's catalogue, you might notice a small but significant addition. We recently were successful in securing a second pathway to the CalMAX Web site: www.calmax.org! The original address has not changed and will continue to function as well—and the CalMAX database will continue to be hosted within the Board's Web—but we believe this new, shorter domain name will make it easier for both veteran and rookie users alike to remember how to reach the program. Don't forget, the best way to use CalMAX to benefit your business or organization is to visit us on the Web; and now it's simpler than ever to find us. Tell a friend. In this issue We also feature a guest article from ProMAX--the minimax operated out of Santa Cruz by Ecology Action. Victor Aguiar writes about a large and unusual exchange that occurred between the city of Santa Cruz and a small town in Illinois. Linda Hennessy has provided an article taking a closer look at the Annual Recycled Product Trade Show, held at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim on April 4-5. The insert section of this catalogue also offers a closer look at recycled products. In the creative reuse feature, Sarah Weimer has a piece called "Turn the Tables" about—you guessed it—reusing outdated tables. Sarah always offers interesting, practical, and creative ways to reuse ordinary products. Next, from the electronics waste program, student assistant Christina Armor contributes an article describing the new Electronic Product Management Directory. The directory contains an excellent collection of resources for those looking for ways to discard electronic waste responsibly. It is designed to enable the public to locate organizations that will accept electronic equipment for reuse or recycling.
