State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign How Are We Doing? |
|
|
The State Agency Buy Recycled Campaign (SABRC) has been in existence since the enactment of Assembly Bill (AB) 4, Eastin, 1989. Since that time, the SABRC tracking system has recorded the purchase of over $1 billion of SABRC compliant recycled-content products by State agencies. In October 2004, the Department of General Services (DGS) placed a moratorium on reporting several reports. The SABRC report was one of the many annual State agency reports the moratorium affected. Beginning January 1, 2006, statutory changes identified the CIWMB as the primary agency responsible for SABRC. To achieve the goal of obtaining even more accurate and complete data regarding the purchase of recycled-content products, a new on-line SABRC tracking and reporting system was designed and made available July 1, 2006. As part of the streamlined design, the on-line SABRC report has been integrated with the DGS State Contract Procurement Registration System to allow State personnel the ability to do "one-stop shopping" by efficiently reporting purchases of SABRC compliant and non-SABRC compliant products on a single website. However, the system did not suffice well and the CIWMB has since developed a new on-line reporting system which is accessible on the SABRC Annual Report site.
