The Information Management Branch manages the Board's information
technology environment, including hardware, off-the-shelf and custom
software, data stores, web site management, network services, and support services. The branch comprises the following
four sections:
Network Services Section
The Network Services Unit designs, implements, and maintains all aspects of
the Board's information technology systems. The unit also provides in-depth
technical assistance with operating systems and with network organization
and integration.
Software Architecture Section
This section oversees and manages the web and software development
architecture for the CIWMB, as well as related application servers such
as the database, web, geographic information system (GIS), media, and
managed document servers. The section works closely with Web and
Software Development to meet the software development and web site
management needs of CIWMB
programs.
Support Services Section
Support Services provides software training and manages hardware and software
inventories. The unit's Help Center provides assistance to staff with
software and hardware problems.
Web and Software Development Section
This section addresses organizational, programmatic, and
user requirements through database and custom software development and maintenance services for automated
computer systems. The section also provides service and support for all aspects of Internet and
Intranet development, both for the CIWMB and for Cal/EPA.
Software services include needs analysis, systems analysis and design, programming,
testing, documentation, and technical support. Web services include web
site development and maintenance, webcasting, statistics, etc.
